A new era ladle heating device that uses
a dilution/diffusion oxygen combustion system

A DOC (burner) is a burner patented by Praxair, Inc. of the United States.
DOC stands for "Dilute Oxygen Combustion," and refers to dilution/diffusion oxygen combustion.

DOC combustion characteristics
DOC burner injects oxygen and fuel separately at high speeds. Diffusion combustion occurs while mixing in the recycle stream (combustion gas in the combustion chamber), creating a flame with an even temperature without any hot areas.
Low pollution, energy conserving next generation burner
-1 Substantial reduction in fuel consumption volume and CO2. (Combustion gas generation ratio is 1/4 that of air combustion.)
-2 Low NOX.

The vital element in the casting process:
Substantial effects on energy conservation and the environment

Implementation effects

-1

Even flames without hot areas and a recycle stream allows for greater agitation effects to provide even heating down to the bottom of the hearth.

-2

The composition of the combustion gas that is generated is mostly CO2 and H2O, meaning that gas emission increases, leading an increase of heating capabilities and a reduction in ladle heating times.

Advantages/Disadvantages

Advantages

Due to being compact and lightweight, there is no need for large-scale equipment such as a regenerative burner.
Furthermore, reduced operating hours are required to convert existing equipment because there are no issu regarding installation onto lip pour hearth lid heating equipment.

Disadvantages

Costs other than those for fuel are required as the equipment uses paid oxygen (liquid oxygen or PSA) as the oxidant.
*For 13A fuel: 2.3 times the fuel cost required for liquid oxygen, 2.5 times the fuel cost required for PSA.
